ATHMANDU, Aug 10: The last rites of late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha will be performed with government honors.
Chairman of Film Development Board of Nepal Dharmendra Kumar Marbaita informed that the ministry has directed them to perform the final rites with government honors.
Prior to cremation, the dead body will be kept at Nepal Academy for condolences.

Deceased actor Shrestha to be cremated in Kathmandu
The family members of deceased actor Shree Krishna Shrestha, who died while undergoing treatment in India Saturday night, have started process to bring back his body to Kathmandu for last rites.
After the government remained undecided on whether or not to confer state honor on Shrestha, family of the popular actor were also uncertain in bringing his body back home for funeral.
With the news from Delhi, Nepali cine artists have started preparation to organize funeral procession of the late actor, who succumbed to deep pneumonia while undergoing treatment at New Delhi-based Apollo Hospital.
“ Shrestha’s body will be brought to Kathmandu for funeral . But, the time is still not fixed,” Dharmendra Kumar Marbaita , Chairman of Film Development Board of Nepal informed.
According to Sambhujeet Baskota, a renewed playback musician, Shrestha’s body will be kept in the Nepal Academy hall for condolence before consigning it to flame at Aarya Ghat in Pashupatinath.
Some family members of deceased actor have flown to New Delhi this morning. Shrestha’s newly-wed-wife Sweta Khadka and his elder brother were accompanying him in Delhi for treatment.
According to film Director Akash Adhikari, Shresthat’s body will be taken back to Kathmandu as per the desire of his elderly mother in her late eighties.
“ Shrestha’s elderly mother wants to see her son once for the last time. So, his body will be brought here to fulfill her wish,” said Adhikari, who directed film Kohinoor acted and produced by late actor which is being screened across the country at the moment.
Due to illness, actor Shrestha couple was absent during official release his last film slated for last Friday.
The popular actor, who was able to captivate the attention of Nepali film audience playing in mover than a hundred films, had married longtime girlfriend actress Sweta just a month ago.
Although it was reported the newly-wed couple left for honeymoon trip, it was later revealed that the couple had visited India for Shrestha’s treatment.
